Properties with a swimming pool

Properties with a pool must have one of the following pieces of safety equipment in accordance with French safety standards :

 - Secure access and fencing around the pool area

  - An alarm system

  - A safety cover with secure hooks

  - A roofed enclosure.

When staying in a Gîtes de France property with a swimming pool, guests use the pool at their own risk and should watch all users closely, particularly young children.

Self-catering gites in Morbihan* = minimum stay of 2 nights out of season

Minimum stay of 1 week during French school holidays. Please contact our Reservation Service for details of weekend and midweek breaks.

Minimum stay for Bed & Breakfast, Campsites and Stopover gites = 1 night

Minimum stay for country campsites and Mobile homes * = 1 night

Arrival and departure times

Gites : Guests should arrive on the day and time specified on the rental agreement or receipt. In case of late arrival or a last minute delay, guests should inform the owner whose contact details may be found on the description sheet.

Bed & Breakfast : Guests should arrive before 19.00 on the day of arrival. In case of a delay, guests must inform the owner as soon as possible and give an estimated arrival time.

Short stay packages : The arrival time is 14.00 and departure time is 12.00.

For stays of 3 nights or more :  usual arrival and departure times apply, unless a different time has been agreed with the reservation service.

Booking fees = For bookings of 3 nights or more made through the Reservation Service, a booking fee of 13€ is payable. For bookings of 2 nights the fee is 9€.

USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT GITES

INVENTORY  :

When you arrive at the gite, the owner, or his agent, will carry out and sign an inventory of the property with you. This is the only valid document in case of any dispute concerning the condition of the property.

You must clean the gite before you leave. At the end of your stay the owner or his agent will inspect the property and in particular the bedding, bathroom facilities and kitchen equipment. Some owners offer end-of-stay cleaning, this is shown on the description sheet.

SECURITY DEPOSIT

When you arrive, you must give the owner a security deposit which varies according to the size of the gite.  The maximum amount is as follows :

- 200€ (gite for 7 people or less)

- 400€ (gite for 8-15 people)

- 620€ (gite for more than 15 people)

This sum will be given back to you when you leave, minus any deductions for the cost of any breakages or repairs for damage. It is essential that you inform the owner of the day and time of your departure so that the deposit can be given back.

Reminder : the gite must be vacated by 10am.

An additional security deposit may be required for pets (maximum 80€ per animal). This is specified on the gite description sheet sent with the rental agreement.

CHARGES :

The gite rental price includes the following amounts of gas and electricity :

Water is included in the rental price. Gas and electricity meter readings are taken by the owner in your presence when you arrive and leave.

ADDITIONAL CHARGES :

Electricity  and Gas = If you use more than the allowed amount, the gite owner can ask you to pay him directly for the extra gas or electricity used. He must inform you of the rate charged (kWh or kg of gas), how it is calculated and give you a receipt.

Heating (if not included in the rental price)

Oil and gas : if there is no meter, then charges for oil and gas–fired heating are per day according to the size of the gite :

LINEN HIRE :

Gites are equipped for the number of people shown on the description sheet.

Bed linen and towels are not provided unless otherwise indicated on the description sheet, but some owners offer a linen hire service.

Recommended charges for linen hire  :

  - Set of bed linen : 8€ per set

  - Towels : 8€ per set (2 hand towels, 2 bath sheets)

  - Household linen : 8€ per stay (tablecloth, napkins, tea towels).

LOCAL TOURIST TAX (taxe de séjour)  : see the description sheet or ask the owner.

Some local councils charge a tourist tax which is payable directly to the owner at the end of your stay, unless stated that it is included in the rental price. Ask for details when you book your gite.

CLEANING :

You must clean the gite before you leave and leave it in perfect condition. Some owners offer an end-of-stay cleaning service (see gite description sheet which is sent with the booking agreement). 

ADDITIONAL GUESTS :

All gites are rented for a specified number of people at the price shown on the booking agreement, the website and the gite description sheet which is sent with the booking agreement. Acceptance of any additional people is with the prior agreement of the owner (who can accept with or without payment of an additional charge, or refuse the request).

DAMAGE AND BREAKAGES :

All broken or damaged equipment must be replaced, if not the owner is permitted to keep part of the security deposit to cover the cost.

COMPLAINTS :

Complaints about the description of the property or the inventory must be made to Gites de France de Morbihan within 3 days of arriving at the property. We will only act upon complaints where there is a Gites de France rental agreement in place. Complaints about matters which arise during the stay must be notified in writing by registered letter to Gites de France du Morbihan no later than one week after the end of the stay.

As properties can change during the year, the descriptions and photographs on this website are not legally binding.

It is possible that errors may occur in pricing and property information, so only the information specified in the rental agreement and its accompanying property description sheet will be taken into account when dealing with complaints.

CANCELLATION INSURANCE :

Make sure you have valid holiday insurance which includes holiday rentals and public liability cover.

Vous pouvez opter pour une assurance annulation qui vous est proposée  lors de la souscription de votre contrat. Les documents concernant l’assurance annulation sont joints au contrat de location.

Optional cancellation insurance is offered to each customer at the time of booking and the relevant documents are attached to the rental agreement.
