Pontivy, at the heart of Brittany

Apprêtez-vous à découvrir ses nombreux trésors et ses secrets impénétrables

Pontivy is a friendly, fortified town, once called Napoléonville, with an amazingly rich history. It is surrounded by rolling countryside and 2 canals : the Nantes-Brest Canal and the Canal du Blavet.

During your stay in a Gites de France property in or near Pontivy, don’t forget to visit the castle, le Château des Rohan, whose history is inextricably linked with the town. In fact, Pontivy’s coat-of-arms is that of the de Rohan family.

Pontivy is ideally-placed for exploring the central region of Morbihan with its castles, chateaux, chapels, villages, holy wells and wayside crosses. Walk along the towpaths of the Nantes-Brest Canal and enjoy the stunning scenery. Visit Lake Guerlédan, the largest lake in Brittany, with its great  artificial beaches. The large towns of Vannes and Lorient are 50 minutes’ drive along the excellent road network.
